Fish Homosassa
Homosassa - This spring fed fertile river feeds vast expanses of shallow water habitat while tidal flushing between islands delivers food and creates ambush scenarios on points and edges. Homosassa is a true sportsman’s inshore paradise. Since the early 80’s, Captain "Red ED" Brennan, has mastered his art and passed his knowledge down to countless others.
Homosassa has an abundance of large Redfish, Speckled Sea Trout, Cobia and Spanish Mackerel waiting to challenge the best of light tackle anglers. The clear pristine flats of Homosassa Bay are ideal for drifting or easing along with a trolling motor or push pole. Homosassa Bay features mangrove shorelines, dense sea grass beds and various spoil islands loaded with angling potential. For every little island and piece of broken marsh there are two others underneath the water that you can’t see, which provide excellent attack points for "Bull" Redfish and "Gator" Trout.
World class fishing in Homosassa is available year round and when conditions are right and you know the lay of the land, the Redfish action can be almost dependable and provide excellent, reel-burning excitement.
Once you have experienced the scenic beauty of the Homosassa River, you'll understand why this area is known as Florida's Nature Coast. Located on Florida's Gulf Coast, it's just a short drive from Orlando, Tampa, St. Petersburg., Gainesville and Ocala (see Map of Florida).
