Homosassa & Chassahowitzka Loaded with “Gator” Trout!
Danglers & Tanglers: We got a Problem and this ain’t an April Fools joke! Most of the Speckled Sea Trout being CAUGHT this week are of the “GATOR” variety, which means they are to BIG to keep!! The daily recreational bag limit for Trout in our region of Florida is 5 per person per day, between 15 inches and 20 inches, except one fish over 20 inches, per person per day. Though it’s been a struggle most of the Captain’s are CATCHING their limit of Trout within two hours! Doug Lanham, CAUGHT & released, 10 Trout on Wednesday between 18 and 24 inches fishing near the power plant. He said it was a real smorgasbord as he also CAUGHT & released, 16 Spanish Mackerels, a 5 pound Bluefish and a real nice Pompano! Captain Mike Kellogg has a similar report from Chassahowitzka, with consistent CATCHES of Trout, Redfish, Black Drum and even some Snook activity. Captain Jody Johnson reported yesterday while fishing in Seven Cabbage Pass, in just two hours CAUGHT a 26 1/2 inch Trout, 21 inch Trout and a few small Redfish!
